Booking now open for T100 Dreaming June walks

Kinetika is pleased to announce that booking is now open for the June walks which launch this year’s walking, talking and making festival: T100 Dreaming.

Four new T100 walks from 10-13 June will explore routes around Grays, Tilbury, East Tilbury and Purfleet-on-Thames, Kinetika’s base.

These newly devised walks celebrate Thurrock’s heritage, its varied communities and links to the wider world. The development of the walks has been in partnership with Active Essex and Essex Cultural Diversity Project. Four walk leaders from diverse communities across Thurrock have been mentored by Saira Niazi, Director of Living London.

Saira Niazi from Living London said “I am delighted to be partnering with T100 Dreaming to meet new people and to discover new places. I am looking forward to finding out more about Thurrock’s rich heritage and diverse communities.”

Each of the June walks is an interactive ‘dreaming’ walk. The leaders of the walks have been partnered with local artists, who will encourage participants to get to know the communities on the walk routes and to reflect upon and share their hopes for the future of that community. In this way, the walks shine a light upon people with different backgrounds, from varied places and cultures who make their homes in Thurrock.

This partnership will bring a new audience to Thurrock to explore its fascinating history and natural landscapes.

All walks are free to attend and led by an experienced walker, but booking is essential. Bookings are open for June walks now, with July walks to follow at a later date.

T100 Dreaming is part of Kinetika’s ambitious regional project, Beach of Dreams, a 500-mile walk from Lowestoft to Tilbury during which 500 dreams will be collected and represented on 500 silk pennants. This year T100 is also proud to be part of the Estuary Festival Associated Programme.

T100 Dreaming is made possible by the generous support of Arts Council England, Thurrock council, Active Essex, English Heritage, The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund as well as a network of wonderful volunteers.
