Viewing the Thames and Exploring the Rotherhithe Peninsula 

 
When: Sunday 21 July 2024, 10.30am – 2.30pm
Meet: Tower Hill Tube Station, London, EC3N 1JL
 
This linear walk from Tower Hill to Rotherhithe begins by skirting this rich stretch of the Thames before dipping into the Rotherhithe Peninsula. Walkers will take in important historical and ecological sites en route including Tower Bridge, Stave Hill and Southwark Park.

Meet outside the Trinity Square exit of Tower Hill tube station at 10.30am.

Please note that this route is made up of mostly paved paths with some steps and narrow passageways making this unsuitable for buggies and wheelchair users but possible for babies in carriers/ slings.

How to get here?

By train:

Tower Hill underground station is directly at the start of walk and Canada Water bus and train station at the end of walk.

By car:

Limited paid parking possibilities available nearby Tower Hill, public transport advised.

By bus:

Tower Hill and Canada Water are well served by many bus lines.

Accessibility

Narrow paths and some inclines and steps mean this walk is not accessible for wheelchair and buggy users but easier for children in slings/ carriers.

T100 walks are of different lengths and on varying terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

What to take

Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for all weather!

Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but if you don’t have these please wear suitable and comfortable footwear – best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home! Make sure you bring snacks and a packed lunch with you, if necessary, and plenty to drink.
