Pride: Port, Dock and Operation Workers
25th June 2022, 1pm – 5pm
Starts: Anchor Field, Tilbury
Ends: Tilbury Cruise Terminal
A Piece of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant Parade Comes to Tilbury! A section of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant called The Thank You Dance, by artistic directors and producers Ali Pretty from Kinetika and Jeanefer Jean-Charles MBE from Jeanefer Jean-Charles & Associates is coming to Tilbury for the T100 festival finale and Port Open Day!
The Thank You Dance will be a visually arresting spectacle made up of over 200 performers drawn from across generations from Thurrock, London and Milton Keynes, covered in hand-painted silks, and holding vibrant flags designed and made by community groups from Tilbury, Grays, Purfleet-on-Thames and Milton Keynes.
The Thank You Dance is a Thank You to the Queen for 70 years of public service and a Thank You to our key workers and all those who selflessly contribute to society, looking after our communities and laying the foundation for a better life for generations to come.
The Thank You Dance Parade will leave Tilbury Civc Square at 13:00, and will arrive at the Cruise Terminal at 14:30. Don’t miss it!
If you’d like to attend the flag waving workshop and dance along with the parade, please meet us at the registration point in Anchor Fields Park. If you’d like to view the procession, please meet at Civic Square or any safe roadside pavement along the route.
If you’d just like to attend the Port Open Day, and not join any walks, this is free, open to all and doesn’t need to be booked, join us there!

Please note: You need to choose walks within your capabilities; the walk leaders are experienced but must take your word that you are sufficiently fit for the grade of walk you have chosen. Due care has been exercised in organising the walks, however, Kinetika, the funders and associated partners of the project cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes, especially unsupervised. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
WHAT TO TAKE
Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for everything!
Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but otherwise please wear suitable and comfortable footwear- best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home.
Make sure you bring a packed lunch with you if necessary, and plenty to drink.
Toilet facilities can be accessed at the Cruise Terminal at the end of the walk.
We encourage you to bring face coverings with you. You will not have to wear face coverings for the duration of the walk but you may wish to wear them when we enter indoor spaces on the route, although this is optional.
We will be taking photographs and video of this event to promote and celebrate the project in print and online. If you do not give consent to be photographed or filmed, that’s absolutely fine, please let a member of the Kinetika team know on the day.
