WALKING

Kinetika is very pleased to announce today that Arts Council England has pledged its support for the Thurrock 100 Stories project. The Arts Council funding is in addition to a grant already secured from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and means that the company will be able to work with schoolchildren and Thurrock residents on an additional creative project to complement the heritage project.

Kinetika will use drawings submitted by participants in the schools workshops to create 100 small silk flags, each representing one of the stories in the 100 Stories project. Children and members of the community will be invited to paint the flags at Kinetika’s studios in Purfleet in June. And leading choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles, known for creating mass-movement for spectacular large-scale events, will also work with teachers from all 20 participating schools to enable students to take part in a choreographed finale, with all 100 flags.
