WALKING

This walk begins in what was once the largest housing estate in Europe, with more than 5000 homes. The route follows a disused railway and enters one of the pits where chalk was once quarried, before continuing to Grays via the former police station.  Then down through the High Street towards Grays Beach.

Accessibility

This is an easy walk.  Please note there are steps into the pits – but there is an alternative route for buggies. Our walks are of different lengths and on different terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. Download a colour-coded map here Walk 20.
