WALKING

Thurrock Pride Walk

Saturday 8 June 2024

In collaboration with Thurrock’s first Pride event, being overseen by Thurrock LGBTQ+ Community Network and Arts Outburst, the walk from Purfleet-on-Thames Train Station headed along the Thames past Thurrock’s iconic graffiti wall. There were stops along the way to share stories in relation to the flags and the theme of ‘Firsts’.

Once nearing Grays, there was a pause at The Wharf where more walkers joined and then we walked up Grays High Street, finishing at Thameside Theatre.

Walkers held vibrant, bespoke silk flags created by Purfleet-based, arts organisation and event partner, Kinetika, alongside members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The walk offered a chance for community members to connect and come together to make a powerful statement of visibility, acceptance and solidarity.
