T100 Sounds

T100 invites C100

Sounds and sights of Langdon Hills

Sunday 25 June 2023

Start and End: Essex Wildlife Trust Centre, Langdon Nature Discovery Park, SS16 6EJ

This walk saw us heading out to Langdon Hills alongside our friends from C100 (Chelmsford 100 Festival) to explore the sounds and sights. Starting from Langdon Hills Visitor Centre, this exciting day began with an opportunity to share stories and celebrate both the T100 and C100 festivals. All attendees then split into their chosen walk (short or long).

There were two circular walks to choose from where participants could take in the area’s beauty and stunning views. In addition, woodland trails are waiting to be explored through guides that can be obtained at the Gift Shop for some fun, independent navigation. The trails available include the family-friendly ‘Peter Rabbit Woodland Trail’, perfect for the little ones.

This exciting day allowed everyone to share stories and celebrate both the T100 and C100 festivals. Like to complete this walk on your own? see our suggested options and routes below.

Longer Walk

Enjoy Langdon Hills, Coronation Meadow, Coombe Wood and Hall Wood on the suggested longer of the two walks. Walk along historical pathways, there are many places along the route to stop and admire the views.

Shorter Walk

Take a tour of Langdon Hills Community Garden as part of the shorter walk. You can then travel through the Plotlands, fields and cattle grazing meadows.

When you complete your walk, why not head to the café to relax for a well deserved rest.

T100 walks are of different lengths and on varying terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. We have designed our programme with accessibility in mind so we hope that there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you would like to discuss this please contact nicole@kinetika.co.uk.

Please note:
We ask that people choose walks within their capabilities; the walk leaders are experienced but must take people’s word that they are sufficiently fit for the grade of walk they have chosen.

Due care has been exercised in organising the walks, however Kinetika, the funders and associated partners of the project cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes, especially unsupervised. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for all weather.

Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but if you don’t have these please wear suitable and comfortable footwear – best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home. Make sure you bring snacks and a packed lunch with you, if necessary, and plenty to drink.

Toilet facilities can be accessed at Langdon Hills Visitor Centre at the start and end of all walks. For the longer walk there are also toilet facilities along the route, at Westley Heights.
