2020 marks a significant moment of change for us all and the theme this year is T100 Calling – a call to action for communities to come together to creatively re-imagine our future.
We are inviting people to explore local challenges, and seek possible solutions, working with communities to collectively design and make beautiful large-scale mandalas. We are inspired by Scottish artist Therese Muskus.
The Festival will take place in September. Starting at East Beach, Shoeburyness and ending in Purfleet-On-Thames, we will be walking, talking and making along the Thames Estuary – bringing communities together to reflect on issues including climate change, plastic waste, reclaiming public spaces, bio-diversity, growing sustainable communities, health and well-being – whilst collaboratively making beautiful pieces of art from locally collected materials.
Over the following three years, with support of the National Lottery Community Fund we are inviting our growing team of volunteers and supporters to imagine how T100 can become an independent organisation from 2023. One that produces an annual festival to celebrate the people of Thurrock, showcasing talent, resourcefulness, resilience, diversity and to collectively imagine a healthy, future-proof, creative community.

“We are delighted to fund this project, which is a fantastic example of people coming together to build new connections in their community. Thanks to National Lottery players, the T100 Walking, Talking & Making Festival will continue to expand and offer local people the chance to be creative, get outdoors and meet new people.”

“Thurrock tends to be overlooked but those who live here are proud of its hidden gems, so a festival that shines a positive spotlight is welcome. I am happy to have helped it expand by securing funds for each of the festivals to date and now T100 has 3 years of funding to embed T100 as an independent organisation. By and for Thurrock people, it is a huge success we can be proud of.”
