Rising above Rubbish
Time passes so slowly when you are a building, it seems as though everything is in slow motion.
I'm floating - below ground but still floating - upon centuries of rubbish. Rubbish from Mucking itself and as far as London. I'm not flying like the birds around me, but even floating is so much fun.
Finally I have been declared open. My floors are flooded with people - visitor footsteps echo through me. One of these echoes belongs to Sir David Attenborough.
This makes me glow with pride. It feels as though with every step he takes, my surroundings are filled with amazing knowledge.
Beams of bright light shine through my windows.
Obviously I feel lonely at night, but at least at this time I can make full use of my 360 degree vision. I can gaze around without making a single movement. I am the best animal spotter in the world.
If only I could take pictures.
The only downside of being a building is that we only have a short-term memory. I bet within a week I won't remember this iconic evening. I have no way of capturing my memories of what I do, where I have been and what I would like to do.
Look, the sun - its flashing colours and bright light. I will get to see so many sunsets every evening. I am almost certain that this first will be the best. I wish, I wish so desperately, that this scene could stay inside me forever.
